notepad integration thought experiment

Hello, I'm a big fan of firefox and have been installing it on all my friends and families computers over the years and trying to spread the word. Just joined this forum to share a development idea.

I'm basically throwing the idea of developing a notpad work space within the browser. the application would either open a new tab, or a new GUI, graphical user interface, example of new G.U.I. for firefox would include the popular Addon "Cooliris." [check it out, you'll see what im talking about].

i personally believe that the browser-tab option would be most useful.

I've uploaded two images to give visual example:

First we see the following: A user is using the firefox browser, but has also opened various notepad files to jot down separate notes. Multiple notepads allow for more customization and free range for the user. The idea of 'notes' is to be temporary, flexible, and non anchoring - thus the multiple windows, helps keep ideas separate and allows for specialization. It is why the sticky notes became popular, and not a Giant Notebook for all your notes.

In this second image, we see a 'hub' is created to contain all .txt or note files within the browser.

by including a Notes Addon to the browser, access to information becomes quicker. Instead of opening 5 different notepad files, firefox could with the click of one button, present you with all your notes just like you left them. Some applications like gmail, yahoo mail, etc offer "notes" section to their services, but it doesn't go far enough, it restricts that information to the specific website... this restriction, however, would be lifted if its scope was not so local, but rather more global... integration into the browser.

people like to play with their information, move it around, re arrange it.. until they have arranged it in a way that is suitable to them. look at how many programs are out there now for photo thumbnail application, cooliris, photobucket, facebook images. This same concept of being able to view lots of files in one contained area needs to be applied to text and word documents (not MSword documents per say, but documents that contain writting)

What do you, the Internet, think?
